"This is my fight song... take back my life song..."
How much can a person really handle in their life?
For years, since our landlord started with all of her b.s., I have not been able to feel relaxed or comfortable at all. In fact, it has been so long since I have felt relaxed or comfortable that I have forgotten what it even feels like. All I ever feel is pain of one kind or another. I have been searching desperately for anything to bring me even a small amount of joy, but I keep losing interest in more and more as the emotional weight of their actions gets heavier and heavier. This depression, brought on by week after week, month after month, year after year, of her and her adopted son's relentless abuse, causes so much physical pain and mental agony that it has yet to go away.
I am sick of feeling this way every single day. I am tired of hating life so much.
I have been hearing this song on my playlist a lot lately. She says she has a lot of fight left in her. How much fight do I have left in me?
The answer to that is: enough.
I do NOT deserve to have been treated the way our landlord and her son have been treating us. She tells her visitors it is her entertainment, while her son tells his that it is because I can walk and he can't.
Abilities do NOT determine disabilities. He and I are both disabled. Be inclusive!
Pain is NOT entertainment. Not mine, his, or anyone's. Be compassionate. It's not difficult.
ALL disabilities matter. His matters. Mine matters.
I advocate for FULL inclusivity because we ALL deserve it.
I do not hate them. I have nothing but love for all living things. I want nothing but the best for them. But, I most absolutely want nothing but the best for myself, too.
With deepest regards to Rachel Platten, I borrow her lyrics - "This is my fight song... take back my life song..."
Because I DO have enough fight left in me.
